After a successful 2012, LeBron James and Nike are at it again this time with their latest creation, the LEBRON X shoe. Introduced today (via Nike, Inc.), the LEBRON X will be Nike’s first signature basketball show featuring Nike+ Basketball technology. Featuring a hyperfuse construction on the upper—a composite of lightweight synthetic material and mesh fused together—that is lightweight, breathable, supportive and most importantly durable; the shoe will include Flywire technology to provide excellent lockdown on the midfoot, solid rubber outsole for extra durability and more.
The kicks will also come available in select colorways (as seen above) and in three versions:

  1. The fully loaded LEBRON X+ Sport Pack —which includes the shoe and the Nike+ Sport Kit
  2. A Nike+ Basketball enabled version with NIKE+ technology embedded in the midsole
  3. A non-enabled version

The interactive experience will allow users to track in-game activity with Nike+ enabled shoes which can be reviewed, analyzed and will be available to share the information using the Nike+ Basketball app.
The shoe is now available globally.—XXL

Meet The Man Behind the Jordan Designs: Tinker Hatfield

Business magnate and philanthropist Phil Knight may be responsible for putting Nike on the map as the brand’s co-founder and chairman, but elusive Nike designer Tinker Hatfield practically revolutionized the footwear game with his Air Jordan designs.

Designing every pair of game-worn Jordans since 1988, Hatfield spoke to GQ‘s Mark Anthony Green to discuss his work pattern and collaborating with His Airness, Michael Jordan. See an excerpt below.

The Flames Less Traveled “The Jordan V was partly inspired by flames painted on a World War II plane. Michael and I used to talk about zigging while everybody else was zagging, so I made the flames point forward, not back.”

Missed Opportunities “At one point, I pushed for a less sporty sub-brand called Jordan Beyond. When Michael did SNL in ’91, he wore a Jordan Beyond quilted green jacket. But I couldn’t make it happen. I’ve still got some samples, including a basketball shoe that was perforated like a wingtip.”

De-Office the Office “When you’re a designer trying to think of new ideas, you need a space that’s off-the-wall and different. This book, A Pattern Language, which I read while studying architecture, explains why: An environment’s design gives you cues about how it’s used.”

Canon for an architect.

Work…Just Not at Work “I never design during business hours. It’s too distracting. I might do a few sketches, but almost all the drawings are done at night or on the weekends.”

When inspiration strikes.

Alicia Keys Designs New Line Of Reeboks

Thu, Sep 06 2012 by EseHombre

It looks as though Alicia Keys has snatched up  a sneaker deal.

With her hubby Swizz Beatz behind the scenes developing fresh sneaker designs for Reebok as their creative director,  it was only a matter of time before Alicia got the itch to design her own line too.  The Fall/Winter keys  collection were influenced by a few throwback silhouettes like the 5411?s that  she rocked as a teen and features gold studs, sky-high hi tops and keyboard  graffiti.

Working with Reebok felt like a  natural fit for me, I’ve been a fan of the brand ever since I can remember. My  5411s – that was what we called the Freestyle because they were $54.11 including  tax in NYC – were practically glued to my feet in my pre-teens and teens. I  loved rocking a hi-top! It’s one of those brands that have endured the test of  time and it feels like a really natural fit. I’m excited to bring Reebok to the  future!

All we need is a line of baby sneakers from Egypt. Then, the Beatz family  footwear collection is complete.  Catch a few pics below:

Are you feeling them?

Alicia’s new Reebok ad campaign will premiere tonight during the  VMAs.
