Rihanna Gives A Lesson On Instagram Posing

Wed, Jan 16 2013 by Bitchie Staff

If there’s anyone who knows how to take a mean Instagram photo, it’s Bad Gal  RiRi

In a new behind-the-scenes video for Complex, set to the soundtrack of “Pour  It Up”, Rihanna finds her best angles while taking self-portraits that are  Instagram-post worthy.  She tells the magazine:

It’s narcissistic, but whatever—everyone does it. I’m capturing  personality…

[...] People take their own pictures,  because it’s difficult for someone else to capture what you seek. Get a good  light. Get a good angle on what’s working  for you that day. If it’s boobs, make sure you hit that. If it’s face, make sure  it’s fierce.

Web Candy of the Week: Kami2Hot

The veteran eye-candy model is also an aspiring author, who’s working on an action-packed, myth-driven novel…

September 9, 2012 – 1:00 PM

With her career starting in 2004, Kami2Hot still remains true to her alias. Aside from nearly a decade of experience in modeling, the eye-candy veteran has her own fair share of side-hustles, validating that her versatility goes beyond her ability to pose in photo shoots. Prior to modeling, the proud Detroit native attended Michigan State University as a pre-med student majoring in computer science and is currently in the midst of finishing a book she began writing as a child. XXL had the chance to chop it up with the well-rounded beauty to discuss her numerous affiliations in the industry, status as an upcoming author, personal preference of prose, and what a single, successful, intelligent, established, “geeky” model looks for in a man. —Christian Bonoan (@chrisakachise)

XXL: Besides modeling, what are your side hustles? Kami2Hot: Basically I’m associated with the Core DJs which is a nationwide association for DJs, they have a sister group called the Core Models, and I’m the coordinator. I’m also the assistant for the Ggurlz, so anything the owner Louis needs handled, I do.

What were you doing before modeling? Well, I was actually at Michigan State University, in the pre-medical program double majoring in Computer Science and Chinese [Mandarin]. So when I say I was a geek…I was a geek [laughs].

According to your Twitter page, you’re an aspiring author, how did that come about? When I was little, my favorite TV show growing up was The Cosby Show. I loved, loved, loved, Bill Cosby. He inspired me to be an obstetrician, and I always wanted to have a practice like he did. So, the geek that I was, I learned a lot of medical terms from Bill Cosby, so that’s how I got into Greek mythology real heavy. I started reading the myths and shit like that. But back when I was little, the only type of mythology that was available was Greek or Roman, they didn’t offer any other cultural mythology, none were really available or accessible. So reading the mythology, and any time I’d read a book or something, I’d always think to myself, “How can I make this story better?” So when I was little, I used to write alternate endings to stories I didn’t like, or wasn’t satisfied with. I did the same thing with movies too. When I was 11 years old, I started writing this book, ’cause I finally got my hands on this Egyptian mythology book, and I was fascinated! So when I was 11, I started writing this story, and you know how it is when you grow up your interests change, so I left it off. Two years ago, I was cleaning up the house, doing some spring-cleaning, and I found a piece of the story. So I was like, “You know what? This is pretty good! [laughs].” So I am continuing the story I was writing when I was 11. [Laughs.]

Do you have a title for this book, and if so do you mind disclosing for us? Yes I do, and sure it’s called Crimson River.

Sounds good, Crimson River by Kami. It has a ring to it… I’m trying to think of a stage name though, I don’t want to put it under my real name…

So how much of your book have you completed so far? It’s three fourths done. I’m on the last leg of it. The cool part about Crimson River, is it’s not a just a one book hit, its actually going to be a series. That’s why right now I’m on the last leg, and when I finish it I’m starting the next book…I can’t wait!

Since we’re on the topic of books, it seems like every female I see on the streets is reading Fifty Shades of Grey, what’s your take on that? Have you read it? Nah, I haven’t read it, and it’s not my cup of tea. See, I’m a bloody and gushy type of chick. I’m not mushy or anything like that. When I heard about Fifty Shades of Grey, I knew what the premise was, it just didn’t appeal to me. Someone has to be killed, someone has to be tortured, some action has to be going on for me to accept just a little bit of that.

You’re pretty much saying you’re an action genre kind of girl, which is stereotypically associated as a male trait. What is it that you look for in a guy? Does his love for his action, and blood and gore have to surpass your preference? Or do you prefer more of the quiet, book-reading type? I mean, it doesn’t really matter if he likes to read or not, as long as he doesn’t mind me reading; I’m a bookworm. He doesn’t really have to like action, but he has to be athletic at least so he can relate to it. Those are the type of guys I go for. But, I’ve dated all types of guys; guys that weren’t athletic at all, who were into books, those guys were cool ’cause at least I have some common grounds with them. I don’t particularly have a type, as long as our personalities mesh well, and I can have fun with them, that’s fine.

So what’s your love life like right now? Nonexistent [laughs].

With you being a model, an aspiring author, and grinding with your numerous side hustles, would you say that intimidates guys when it comes to them approaching or interacting with you? I wouldn’t say intimidates, I think when someone hears that I’m a model, or an aspiring author, they expect me to be a certain way. Especially when they find out I model, they expect me to be an airhead. But when they starting talking to me, they’re like, “Woah! She’s not like that at all. She doesn’t act like how her pictures [portray her to be].” It’s one thing to take a picture, and they expect you to act a certain way. When [you] meet me, [you'll notice] I’m real conservative and stuff. So when we talk, it kind of blows them away, and they don’t know what to think. You know how guys are, they panic and retreat!

Nene Leakes Unveils New Shoe ‘The Nethia’

Mon, Aug 27 2012

Nene Leakes continues to expand her empire past those ‘Bravo TV’ and ‘Donald  Trump’ checks.  Earlier this year, she announced that she would be  launching her own line of shoes through Kim Kardashian’s online shoe boutique, ShoeDazzle and now the heels are  ready to make their debut.

On Saturday night, NeNe had an official launch party in the ATL where she  unveiled one of the signature shoes in her collection called ‘The Nethia,’ a  gold and patent leather strappy platform heel that zips in the front. For the  launch, held at the Kai Lin Art Gallery, NeNe wore a Hervé Léger’s Zuzanna Foil  Print Coated Bandage Dress ($1,950) paired with Giuseppe Zanotti Sandals  ($1,450).[It would have been nice to see her modeling her own  heels.]  Her ‘Nethia’ shoe is a little less costly than Giuseppes with  a price tag of $39.99.

Nene’s Real Housewives of Atlanta’ cast mates Kandi Burress and Cynthia  Bailey were also on deck to help celebrate the launch.

Rosa Acosta Outtakes from XXL15th Anniversary Issue [Photos]

Check out sexy Rosa Acosta shots that didn’t make it in XXL‘s September issue…

August 15, 2012 – 11:00 AM

[Editor's Note: In XXL's September issue, Rosa Acosta spoke on being named the hottest Eye Candy of all time and leaving the game behind. Here are outtakes that didn't make the magazine.]

As told to Sean A. Malcolm (@Sean_Malcolm)

XXL: What was the name of your first “urban” video and how that came about?

Rosa Acosta: So I’m going to go with best i ever had by drake.

Ah yes the infamous stretching video. Would you say that’s how you started to get attention?

Hype introduced me to Kanye West and Kanye told me he was a fan of my work and he wanted me to be a part of one of his projects, which happened to be “Best I Ever Had.”

And in terms of “a fan of your work” what was he referring to?

Meaning I was a professional ballet dancer and came from an art background. The stretching video was definitely one of the things that put me out there. I heard the original post got over a million views within a few months.

What year was that original first post on youtube?

2009

What was the reason for doing it? Did you do it on purpose, knowing a video of stretching would gain attention?

I was not really trying to be a model. I never grew up feeling like I was beautiful or my body was anything special. I’m sort of average in DR. I was going to massage therapy school with hopes of one day opening a spa and the owner of a site called flexichicks.net or com contacted me through myspace asking to shoot the stretching videos, stating only people that pay on his site was going to be able to see them. Then he put a teaser on youtube and that’s when all hell broke lose. [laughs]

What was that moment that made you decide that you can be a model?

I used to do a shoot or a music video sometimes as a favor to friends who couldnt find a model. I used to help friends get girls for videos and shoots, so when you look back on your career, you basically started three years ago, what would you say you’ve learned? What you took from the experiences and what do I have learned a lot and truly understood how things really work.

There are only a handful of household names for video vixens. You’re one of them. Does it still feel like a whirlwind or surreal?

It feels good but not quite surreal since I never really dream about it.

You seem pretty grounded when it comes to this and no feeding into your ego or hype. Why do you think this is?

Because I can’t ever forget who I am and where I came from, and all the sandwiches I couldn’t afford [Laughs]. So I can’t do anything but be the same chick that came here with nothing but a chicken under her arm and dreams of retire my mom.

What else are you working on?

I also own an online boutique where I collaborate with up-and-coming designers to offer girls semi-exclusive designs, www.cossamia.com.

What was the last video you’ve done? And what year?

Probably “Come and Fuck With Me” with Omarion, and that was last year.

How important is it to connect with your fans through these social networks? And will you continue on with this even if you make your full transition?

Of course no matter what you do you need your fans. I love to share things with them especially about health and fitness. I like when people tell me I have inspired them.

Any final words for your fans who voted online and anyone else for that matter?

Yes, I want to thank everybody for supporting me! And I wish XXL feliz aniversario!!!

Rosa Acosta Named Hottest Eye Candy of All Time

After edging out other video vixens as the Eye Candy G.O.A.T., the Dominican beauty speaks to XXL about leaving the game behind…

August 2, 2012 – 2:38 PM

The results are in. Last month, XXL asked its readers to vote for the hottest eye candy to be featured in the publication in the past 15 years. The ballot was narrowed down to previous Eye Candy of the Year winners such as Angel Lola Luv, Esther Baxter, Gloria Velez and Buffie the Body. In the end, Dominican beauty Rosa Acosta edged out the competition.

She appears in a special spread to celebrate XXL‘s 15th anniversary in the September issue. Enjoy it while it lasts, Rosa is presently plotting her exit from the modeling world. “It’s time to transition,” she told XXL editor-at-large, Sean A. Malcolm. “I’m working on a lot of projects that need my full attention, and it’s hard to transition into something  else while doing the traveling and the craziness of the schedule, etc.”

XXL‘s 15th anniversary featuring Rosa Acosta and Kendrick Lamar and Dr. Dre on the cover, hits newsstands nationwide on August 14th. Stay logged on XXLMag.com for more Rosa Acosta.—XXL Staff

Rosa Acosta and Shakur Sozahdah Talk Hot 97 TV Series Los Blancos

When model/actress Shakur Sozahdah needed someone to portray her sexy, cocaine-hustling sister in the original Hot 97 TV series, Los Blancos, she knew exactly who to tab: Rosa Acosta.

“I’ve known Rosa for years and when it came to the situation, I thought that she was perfect for the part,” said Sozahdah about having Rosa play Sophia Blanco, the sister to her character Yasmine Blanco on the show that premiered on Hot97.TV earlier this week. “And what’s a better way to work with someone you love and care about and that you have a friendship with, because then it’s not really work…it’s work and play. It’s easier, the chemistry is better and it’s just a lot more fun.”

And dangerous fun is what the Blancos have, as the series has them running a lucrative cocaine-distribution operation, running into characters portrayed by the likes of rappers Maino and Kurupt along the way.

“I felt there was a void or an unspoken territory of the women running this type of a drug business, you know?” said Sozahdah, who’s also the online series’ creative and executive producer, co-writer and main star. “My character, she’s an Alpha female. She’s bold, she’s fearless, she’s cold-blooded, but she’s still able to keep her femininity at the same time and is still seductive and sexy.”

The same can be said for Rosa’s character, but with a twist.

“I play Sophia, the youngest of the two sisters,” Acosta told XXL. “She’s the typical younger little girl that is—such a wild child. She does what she wants, when she wants it. She doesn’t really care about anything but her sister, her dad who passed, and their family.”

To see Rosa and Shakur, two notable XXL Eye Candy models, on Los Blancos tune into Hot97.TV.—Jakinder Singh

KRISTINA DIVINE IS THE NEXT IT GIRL

Raised in Baltimore, MD by two Jamaican parents. To the shock of many I have been only modeling since 2007, and I love it. As a child I was always a very shy person, but when I am in front of the camera its a whole new world for me. It is as if I am playing a role in a motion picture, and changing charecters with every shoot a feeling I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. Although I love modeling my passion is working with children with disabilities like autism. I currently attend Morgan State University and majoring in child psychology. I enjoy sporting events, movies, theater, music, night clubs, and other social gatherings. I want to say thank you to everyone who supports me in the DMV area, and look forward to seeing me in the top male magazines, videos and other promotions. right now you can find me in mags ASIS, STUNNAZ,FBM(2),URBAN INK, STRAIGHT STUNTIN, vblazin, flava girl, streetfame mag, AND VIDEOS INCLUDING PRETTY RICKY- FT H-TOWN(KNOCKING YOUR HEELS OFF)

Clanese Monae Through the Fire

This courageous beauty turned tragedy to triumph…

July 27, 2012 – 1:15 PM

Three years ago, Clanese Monae turned tragedy to triumph. After her boyfriend was shot and killed at a barbeque, the 24-year-old turned to modeling, which granted a wish her late lover had always had for her and gave Clanese a way to channel her emotions. Now the San Diego native is giving all of herself to modeling, with dreams of building a Tyra Banks-like empire. XXL got with the voluptuous beauty to discuss her emotional connection to modeling, her ultimate goal and how she deals with crazy customers at her day job. — Calvin Stovall (@CalvinStovall)

XXLmag.com: How did you get into modeling?

Clanese Monae: The whole reason I got into it was because my ex-boyfriend was killed. My boyfriend at that time, he was killed in September of 09. And when we were together he used to always tell me that I should try and do modeling. He always really wanted me to model. I never wanted to do it, and then when he passed away since he talked so much during our relationship I was like, “Maybe I should try it out.” So I tried it out and I really liked it. He’s been gone almost three years in September, so I have been a model since ever since he passed away.

So modeling has a real emotional importance for you?

Like I always say, a lot of girls model because they think they’re really cute or someone told them to, but to me, it’s like, yeah he told me to but since he’s no longer here it makes me feel like I’m making him proud kind of thing. So, I love it because I’ve tried it, but I also do it (because) it makes me feel better. It kind of makes me feel like he would be proud of me if he were still here.

How did he die?

He was at a barbeque. It happened Labor Day, I think it was Sunday or Monday. He was at a picnic and someone had just shot into a crowd full of people. He was at a picnic. There was kids, family, everybody there and someone, from a hill I guess, shot down and the bullet just hit him. It’s one of those things where it’s like, wrong place, wrong time.

What else do you do besides modeling?

I work at a bank. I’m an actual teller. So, I do wanna do modeling full time, I hope that I’m given the opportunity to do that, but until then I’m gonna have to work my 9-5. But if I had the opportunity to do modeling full time, I’d love to. But right now, that’s not realistic so I just gotta keep working hard until that opportunity comes.

Do customers try to flirt with you?

There was this one guy, he still comes in… He was a non-customer, meaning he didn’t bank with us, and he would come in the bank all the time to cash checks from his employer. And he’s always saying to me, “I’m gonna come back at least two times a week just to see you. Because you’re so pretty.” I would laugh it of, I didn’t really think he would come. This guy came two times every week. He still comes. He would come literally every Monday and every Thursday every week. The line could be dang near out the door, but he would only let me help him. And he’d come up and he’d never ask for anything. He’d never have anything to do, he’d just be like, “I wanted to stop by to see your pretty face. That’s it. He’d wait in a long line just to do that. So I told him, you can’t be doin that no more. It’s kinda weird, it’s kinda scary.

Are you single?

I feel like right now is the perfect time for me to just live my life, enjoy it. Enjoy being single, enjoy having freedom with no kids because I know one day I am gonna want a relationship and kids. And when that happens I want to be able to give 100% and be all about my husband or boyfriend, all about my kids.

How does your mom feel about your photos?

I’m really, really close with my mom. She’s like my number one supporter. I couldn’t ask for a better parent or better person to support me. I know a lot of girls that do urban modeling, a lot of their family aren’t for it. Some of my family members don’t agree with it, but for me, as long as my mom supports me and understands why I go so hard with modeling, that’s all that matters to me. And she definitely does.

What’s your ultimate goal?

I definitely wanna do fashion. I wanna be more than just urban. I think a lot of urban women get a bad rep because of the kind of modeling that we do, but I feel like it opens doors for a lot of things. I even wanna try out acting. I just kind of want modeling to be a stepping stone to other things. I really admire Tyra Banks because she didn’t just stop at modeling, she became a business woman… I wanna be like that. That’s what I see. I see the urban opening doors to other things. I wanna be more than just a girl that has a nice body and then, “Oh, she has a pretty face.” I want people to look at my face first, then, “Oh she’s smart, she’s this, she’s this, and she has a nice body on top of all that.

#2 Confidence and Personality are Everything

XXLmag.com: What’s your ideal date?

Melanie: Since I live in the city, I like just walking around and just being completely random. Like, okay we see a toy store, let’s go in there and play with all the toys! Just stuff like that. I don’t want to expect anything. I mean we could do dinner, we could do a movie, but to me movies are bad cause you can’t talk to each other. And dinners are just boring!

April: Yeah, if you don’t have a personality, just take a chick to the movies, cause you don’t have to talk!

Melanie: Exactly! [Laughs]

April: But I love when a guy is like, do you like Italian…do you like Chinese? Then you just tell them, and theyre like “Okay, I’ll pick you up at 8.” And that’s it. You, the guy, picks the restaurant and you do everything else.

Melanie: I just think that when you’re not confident it shows. It’s kinda like, anything else that you’re wearing, if you don’t walk out of your house with it, you’re missing a key item. To me? It just shows when you have confidence. As long as you’re confident, you can do no wrong, even if I don’t want to date you. You still had the confidence to ask me, which means that you can have the confidence to ask anyone else out. You know what I mean?

April: Women are attracted to confidence.

Melanie: It sounds like the most cliché thing to say, and I hate it, but yeah it’s the most important thing.

Stephanie Arenas Loves to Share

XXL caught up with the multi-talented beauty to discuss running StephieSoSexy.com and modeling…

    • July 23, 2012 – 10:09 AM

Stephanie Arenas loves to share. The petite part-time model has been an avid blogger since 14 and turned her childhood passion into a hustle with the launch of StephieSoSexy.com three years ago. The lifestyle blog gets views from males, who are usually pulled in by Stephie’s sexy pics and cute charm, as well as females, who frequent the site to get fashion and beauty tips from Stephie herself. But it’s her creative content and journalistic approach that’s built a solid co-ed following for the site, which hit 100,000 views at the end of 2011. XXLmag.com spoke with the self-taught blogger to learn more about her site, her modeling career and future ambitions. — Calvin Stovall (@calvinstovall)

XXLmag.com: How did you get into blogging?

Stephanie Arenas: I started blogging maybe when I was like 14, 15. I would have a little journal online but it was like personal. Ever since I was younger, I really, really loved writing and documenting. So, I would have my little blog when I was younger, like sixteen, and then that was like my favorite past time. So as of late, I started doing it on a more grown-up scale, I go out to different exhibitions, events, museums whatever and I cover them to try to get people to go and do something different and out of the usual. It gets a lot of great feedback, which is such a motivator for me to keep it moving. I do it for my own fun, my own hobby, and the fact that I get a lot of good feedback out of it, that’s even better.

What kinds of stories do you seek out?

I like to do active things, or things that will help you learn something new. For example, I covered the auto show. Not a lot of chicks are into cars, but maybe after seeing my post they’ll be like, “Oh, let me try the auto show, see how cool it is.” Not a lot of people from my age group or lifestyle would even want to visit it and try something new. And to me, that’s what it’s for really.

You run everything on the site?

Yes, me. I do everything from the web design, to the graphics to the photography— absolutely everything.

Did you go to school for any of this or are you self-taught?

Self-taught. Ever since I was young, I was really in to computers. So that’s my baby. Everything on there is done by me.

What’s your ultimate goal with the site?

I would like to get it to where I have such a huge following that I would be able to be sponsored and be taken out for travel to cover certain things in different places on a larger scale. So maybe if my site gets to be that big and I have different establishments wanting to back me up, that’s the goal. That’s a great goal because then I’ll be getting paid to do what I want to do, which is everybody’s dream really.

How did you decide on the name StephieSoSexy?

I have no idea. Honestly, it’s been there so long— basically, I wanted a model name. That was the whole thing. I didn’t wanna when I was getting into modeling I didn’t want my name to (get out) so, I think it just caught on. It stuck, and it’s catchy, so there it is.

How did it feel to hit 100,000 views?

I really didn’t start constantly posting until about late 2010, I started really, really, getting in there. Before it would just be a once in a while thing but I really started grinding on it in late 2010. In fall 2011 I hit over 100,000 views. That was great for me. I had always blogged for my own satisfaction, and just having great feedback from people from all around the nation and even some other places in the world it just kept pushing me. So, ending 2011 I was keeping track of my stats and I would notice it would keep going up and up until it passed 100,000 in a year. I was like, “Wow, this is great.” A little blog about me, that I manage everything that anyone can do is getting quite a following. And I was like half-assing it, imagine if I really went hard on it. 100,000 would be like in a day.

What about your modeling career?

I started modeling like maybe four years ago. A friend of mine referred me like, “Hey, you should try modeling, why not?” And ever since then it was good and I started making money off of it on the side from my regular day job. And it just seemed like it was so easy. It was like very easy money. Just pose, and I can definitely take pictures, so it’s not a problem for me.

How far do you want to take that?

I usually stick to beauty modeling, I don’t do too much fashion being that I’m petite and I stick to what I’m good at. And I do some glamour, but that’s basically it. I do it now mostly as a side thing and I’m very picky about what I represent. I’m not into the really bootylicious modeling or super, super sexy because in the end, I do have the blog and that’s the journalist side so I’m very careful with what I touch, what I model. My main thing is the writing and I think the modeling I’m not that crazy about it, it’s not much of a challenge. What I do is write… I’m very, very picky with what I put my face on because I actually have something behind me. It’s not just the face. I use the whole StephieSoSexy model image to grab your attention, but once I have your attention I have a little more to show you.
